Power for the Air Age

A full size cutaway Allison jet engine sets upon the stage of a Futurliner and a lecturer explained its parts and the theory behind jet propulsion.

1953 Shreveport -- A turbo-jet engine, sliced apart so that the audience may see how it is built, is explained to Britton Travis Woodward, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Woodward, by Gary J. Carle, a lecturer for the General Motors Parade of Progress which opened a five-day run here last night at the Fair Grounds. The engine is part of "Power for the Air Age," one of 26 exhibits included in the show.

A full size cutaway Allison (Division of GM) jet engine sets upon the stage of a Futurliner and a lecturer explained its parts and the theory behind jet propulsion. This exhibit is reported to have been installed in Futurliner #4.
