40th Annual Hudson River Valley
Antique Auto Swap Meet & Car Show
Dutchess County Fairgrounds, Rhinebeck, New York
Friday, April 30 through Sunday May 2nd
We started to get ready for this show by retrieving the
Futurliner from the AACA Museum in Hershey, PA, where it had been on
display for the winter.
A great show in a great setting. A very large auto parts swap
meet, a 400 car hot rod show on Saturday and a 350 classic car show
on Sunday. The Dutchess County Fairgrounds are perfectly laid out
for such an event as this.
Interest in the Furturliner was high and people were crowding
around it all the time during the show. We heard several new stories
regarding people's experience with the Parade of Progress during the
fifties in both the USA and Canada. There were also a couple of
stories about seeing Futurliners after the Parade of Progress ended.
Weather was just about perfect except for two very warm days.
No rain until after the event closed on Sunday night. |
After spending the winter in the AACA Museum in Hershey, PA the
Futurliner attended it's first show of the 2010 season in Rhinebeck,
NY. |
Our host was the Hudson River Valley Antique Auto Association. |
1,300 vendor spaces were sold out and a crowd of 30,000 spectators
were expected. |
The Swap Meet at Rhinebeck has been a favorite among car collectors
from all over the Northeast for years. The objective is to make this
the most vendor friendly Swap Meet around. |
Volunteers share both historical and technical information about the
Futurliner. |
Over 1,200 antique and classic cars and trucks were on display with
over 500 cars in the car corral. |
