Shown here is Del Carpenter with what he referrers to as his
"favorite tool." He's gotten a lot of mileage out of the
old maul and he does like hammers as apposed to wrenches. He once
used a big hammer to improve the compression on my 1946 Buick by
smacking the lifters while the engine was running. Apparently the
"shock" de-carboned the valves and seats. As as result
of his "big-hammer-fixes-all" approach, the compression
was doubled and I avoided a costly overhaul. |
