Futurliner volunteer, Ed Devries, stands in the entrance to Coker
Tire in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
(above) Thanks to a donation by Ron Platt who bought
the Canadian owned Futurliner at auction and Corky Coker (pictured
above) a set of new tires were made by Coker tire to dress out the
Futurliner.
This was a special trip to Chattanooga. We were invited to
celebrate Corky's birthday and the restoration team was thrilled to
see the factory and meet the people who make the tires. |
(above) While
at Coker Tire, the Futurliner was set up with other cars for a photo
shoot in the warehouse. The word is that this photo will be on the
cover of the Coker 2008 catalog.

Wes Myrick dreams a little dream as he proudly sits behind
Corky's desk and wonders how life might have been different if the
plant were named "Myrick Tires." |
The crew met some good folks and enjoyed some great southern
hospitality. Pictured is Corky, John, Ryan, Wes, Harold and Ed. |

(left) This is
a driver's view of the trailer that the Futurliner rides on. It sure
looks tiny from this vantage point and takes a lot of patience and
care to get it on the trailer just right. Placement of the
Futurliner on the trailer must be near perfect to insure a good
ride. And, speaking of good rides, it's safe to say that we've all
enjoyed the "ride" that restoring this piece of history has brought
us. |
