DISASSEMBLY OF THE FUTURLINER FOR RESTORATION

During the course of 1999 the Futurliner is meticulously disassembled and part by part the restoration process begins.

Volunteer Work Crew
These are just a few of the faithful men who show up on Tuesday's and volunteer their time and talents. From left to right is: Wes Myrick, Del Carpenter; Ed DeVries; Don Mayton and Wayne Jackson.

Lightbar
Del Carpenter is working on the lightbar assembly  which projects up above the roof of the Futurliner and   illuminates the showfield area.

Electrical Generator
Bruce Biemers is steadying the 200KW electrical generator as the forklift extracts it from the rear area of the Futurliner. The generator is powered by the main engine off from the drive shaft.

Documenting The Electrical Wiring
Dick Modzeleski, retired electrician from the General Motors Fisher Body plant in Grand Rapids,  tries to sort out and document the wiring before disassembly.

Electrical Control Area
This area is where the generator/alternator was mounted. It houses many of the electrical controls as well as a whole wall of ballast for the many florescence light fixtures throughout the Futurliner..
